Several of our team members volunteered to share from their hearts during devotions and debriefing. I loved hearing them share about what God has been teaching them. That brings me such joy! Each morning and evening we had a devotion and/or time of debriefing. I brought my iPod and some portable speakers so we could have music. As I explained to the team, the Lord has used music throughout my life, to minister to me and provide much needed healing during different seasons I have faced. So, this trip was no exception. Lately, I have been meditating a lot on the songs from the Passion: White Flag CD. “10,000 Reasons”, “You Revive Me”, and “No Turning Back” are currently tops on my list.
Sightseeing—
On Sat., July 28th, our first full day in Ecuador
was full of sightseeing. We started the day walking to Tesoros. It is a large,
beautiful home that will hopefully soon house some children. Oswaldo and Denise are working diligently
with the government to open it as soon as possible. Please pray for favor for
them through this endeavor. We also toured
a beautiful cathedral and the Mitad del Mundo (the Equator). It was great to see these sites with the team.
It also provided for some bonding time, since we’d just met each other the day
before. We even managed to get in a
little shopping and ice cream!
Although we didn’t stop to do any sightseeing on our way to
Santo Domingo July 30th, the drive was absolutely stunning. The
mountains, lush green foliage, and beautiful water were reminders of the
awesomeness of His magnificent creation.
His handiwork never ceases to amaze me!
I forgot to mention that we attended church Sunday morning
(July 29th). We went to the English Fellowship Church (www.efcquito.com). It was a wonderful
service. I loved seeing people from all different nations gathered together,
worshipping Him….made me think about what heaven will be like one day.
Regardless of race, culture, or nationality, those who follow Him and proclaim
His Name will be united together for eternity.
Lastly, on Friday, August 3rd, 2012 we went to a market in
Quito. We spent a few hours buying souvenirs. It was a great time. Then we went
to a large mall area so some of us could buy coffee, chocolate, and aji (hot
sauce). After that, we were able to buy
some commercial kitchen equipment for Tesoros. We pray that this equipment
helps the staff as they provide meals for the children.
I will write later about our incredibly amazing surprise! Again, I am so grateful that the Lord allowed me the opportunity to be part of this team.
