I say “if ever” because many children stay on that country-wide list for years without being matched with a family, and many of those children are boys. We met three older boys who have been on the list of children to be adopted for many years. One of them, Michael, is 13-years-old, and once he turns 14, he will no longer have a chance of being adopted. He is an extremely kind and perfectly healthy boy (i.e., no special need beyond simply being a boy in an orphanage in China), he loves sports, and when we asked him what he likes to do, the first thing he said was, “I would like to have a family with brothers and sisters to love.” Here is Michael…
(I couldn't get his picture to upload for some reason. Anyway, you can see it on my Facebook--Stephanie Graham Bass).
He needs a family before his time runs out. His only 'special need' is his age; but more importantly he needs Jesus and a family. I have not been able to get him off my mind. I am fervently praying that someone steps up to love and care for him. So, I copied this off Dr. Platt's blog and saved it as a Word .doc b/c I could not figure out another way to show his photo. I will NEVER forget Sept. 28, 2010 when we were at the US Consulate's office in Guangzhou, preparing to take our oath to love and care for DanNi. The Consulate verbally recognized a few families, one of whom was adopting their 9th, yes, NINTH child from China. He just turned 14. He stood up with the biggest smile on his face as tears filled my eyes. Thank goodness, it was not too late for him. I pray it is not too late for Michael, either
praying with you Stephanie...
