Nuggets of truth from Secret Church

There really are no words to describe Secret Church. I urge you, brothers and sisters, if you have not participated in Secret Church, to check it out. Dr. David Platt, pastor of the Church at Brook Hills, Birmingham, AL, holds this series biannually and it is an amazing 6+hours of Bible study. Matthew ordered the simulcast for our church to participate in it this past Friday.

We studied marriage, family, sex, and the Gospel.....and yes, they are all connected and designed by a loving God who desires to have relationship with us. After it started, I so badly wished I'd brought our laptop, b/c I would have blogged while he was teaching.

Here are a few things I learned:

1. Jesus is not in a hurry; He is always right on time. (Matthew and Joey tested the connection on Thursday night, as their church set up a time for all simulcast churches to do a 'trial run'. Of course it worked then; but Friday night was a different story. Matthew got there about 5pm to make sure it was working. I got there about 5:20pm and it was not working; much to the chagrin of my husband. He was really frustrated, so I just began to pray. We had a few people from our church, who I knew would understand, but we also had quite a few guests from other churches, and we wanted it to be a good experience for them. Several other men started helping him get the connection restores, and seconds, mere seconds before the first note was sung, the simulcast went live. I had to smile, as Jesus whipsered....I am not bound by space and time; you cannot keep me on a clock; My time is not your time; I am in control, not you).

2. Even in my pain and tears, I feel the sweet peace of my Savior. When I am tempted to feel abandoned and forgotten, I remember His promises.

3. There is nothing worth keeping above living a life yielded to Christ.

4. Biblical parenting propels children to mission; not away from it.

5. Our culture is so intolerant of intolerant people, they cannot tolerate it anymore.

6. I am no longer a slave to sin; I have been set free; free to live a righteous life, made possible by the blood of Jesus, His death on the cross, and His glorious resurrection from the grave. Let us live then, lives that are pleasing to Him; reflecting His glory, so that others may know Him.
