Please understand, I type this in an effort to speak the truth, but also in an effort to work out my own thinking. Working out my thinking helps me clarify my thoughts and try to make sense out of something that really seems to make no sense. Also perhaps this is a way to get feedback if any of this information is inaccurate. In all my thinking, praying, searching, and processing information, the Spirit continues to come back to this, "It's not you all. It's much bigger than you all. It is spiritual. Some think it is behind them because you all are 'gone'. It will never be behind them until the truth is laid bare and repentance is sought."
October/November 2011--I believe it was during this time period that Personnel gave the staff members a draft of the Employment Handbook. They were asked for their feedback and told that Personnel would respond to their comments. Some of the staff responded with comments, questions, and concerns about things in the handbook. They are still waiting for feedback from Personnel, regarding their comments from a year ago, even though the Handbook was set out in April 2012 for the church body to look at. It is also interesting to note that on pg. 10 in the handbook the term 'management' is used. That sounds awfully like it came from a business. Please, please, please understand that a church is not a business. It is not bound by bylaws, employment handbooks, committees, teams, Robert's Rules of Order, or anything of the like...the church body is to be the Bride of Christ. The standard for the church and its operation is the Bible, or it should be. If we feel like we need add to it, then we must to take another look at ourselves and our leadership styles. We must remember that the ultimate example of a servant leader was Jesus and God's Word is sufficient for what we need to govern a church body and to love the people who serve and attend.
