"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may
have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10, NIV).
It is hard to not think of this verse today, as my heart is truly heavy for the mommas and daddies who are burying their little ones today. I cannot fathom, for a minute, what it is like to bury a child. And I know there are many of you out there, and maybe some reading this now, who know personally the grief and heartache of losing a child. It is hard for me not to think that these tragedies probably bring back all of those feelings for you; so if that is the case for you, I pray that in the arms of Jesus, you will find peace and comfort, in the midst of your heartache. Only He can give you what you need in the hour you need it most.
I pray, that somehow, this senseless act of violence, will awaken within our nation the desire, the will to turn back to God as a country. We have lost our focus; our bearings, the faith of our forefathers. Our money still says, "In God we trust", but lately, it sure doesn't seem like that is the case for this nation we call the United States. Let us not let the deaths of these little ones and the adults be in vain; nor the deaths of the thousands of babies aborted each day, be in vain. Now is the time; now is the time for revival.
This is a call for ALL of us to repent, to seek His forgiveness, to become in right standing with Him and with one another. As long as we have breath, there is time. Why wait? What do I need to do today to be reconciled to God and man? What do you need to do to today to be reconciled to Him and to your neighbor?
Thank You, Lord for second chances; for 3rd and 4th and 5th chances. We are so undeserving. I pray, with all my heart, that the leaders of this nation will get on their faces before the Almighty and see that the solution starts with addressing the sins of this great nation. Until that is done, all the other stuff is fluff. May we heed this wake up call, to take personal responsibility for ourselves and for those in our care; to not wait another minute for someone else to 'fix' it; but may we be found faithful by doing what You have called each of us to do so that we can experience full life in You.
