A Minor Setback

Who would have thought that the Alabama state government would be closed on Mon., April 26th???
While we were in NC, we received our approval from USCIS, the I-797 form, we'd been waiting on. So, this morning Matthew took our docs to the Morgan County courthouse to have them certified there, before going to the Sec. of State. He drove all the way to Montgomery and he called me about 12pm to say that every state govt. building is locked up, and not a vehicle or person in sight.

How strange, we thought? Was there a special holiday today, that we were not aware of? Obviously, I'm not from Alabama and had NO CLUE that our state government officials celebrate Confederate Memorial Day....and of ALL DAYS, TODAY!!!! Oh, well.....easy for me to say b/c I did not just waste 6+ hours in the car, and miss a day of work. Needless to say, Matthew was very frustrated.

Later on though, I was reminded of the verse in Proverbs, "In a man's heart, he plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps." God is in control, and this is just part of the process. We have a deadline to meet, May 19th, and we were just trying to get this wrapped up today, which included shipping all these docs to the Houston Chinese Consulate today. That did not happen.....but I know there is a reason.

So, take heart! If you have experienced frustration today, like us, be assured He is in control and nothing takes Him by surprise, not even Confederate Memorial Day!
